SPACE (RISE)

WHAT IS SPACE?
Have you ever wrestled with hard questions? Ever wished for a place to speak your mind without judgment? Do you know what it feels like to have ideas and heavy thoughts but question who to share them with? Have you ever been hesitant to speak up in a crowd even though you feel your thoughts are valid?

If so,  SPACE is for you!!

We live in sensitive times and many of us feel disoriented and have tough questions. We want and need SPACE to process, vent, ask and inquire, and mostly hear from and learn different perspectives. Everything from pop culture, to current events, to hand selected topics, to Q and A sessions, will be covered. Even “suggestion box” sessions. We want our students to feel heard and to listen and learn together as one community. We think SPACE will provide a unique opportunity and will complement what you learn and experience in the classroom. Make plans to join us for SPACE this academic year!

WHAT TO EXPECT

First Up There’s: FOOD

  • Whether it’s a group of friends gathered around a table in the cafeteria, or a quick catch-up over coffee and a cake pop, food has a way of bringing people together. It’s no different at SPACE.We start with food, because it’s a great way to encourage community and get to know each other.

Then a: TALK

  • The talks are designed to engage and inspire conversation. These talks are focused around what’s happening around us. We live in a world where the TV no longer shuts off at midnight and we have access to content, news and so much more 24/7. SPACE was designed with that purpose in mind.

Followed by: DISCUSSION

  • Probably the most important part of any SPACE: the chance to share thoughts and ideas on the topic, and simply discuss it in a small group. There’s no obligation to say anything. And there’s nothing you can’t say. It’s an opportunity to hear from others and contribute your own perspective in an honest, friendly and open environment.
